General Privacy Statement

The University of Queensland (UQ) is committed to protecting user privacy. UQ understands and appreciates that visitors and users of this web site are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any information that may be provided to UQ.

UQ uses the Commonwealth Government’s Information Privacy Principles as a guide in its administration of personal information.

Privacy Policy

The information provided by you to the University will be dealt with only in accordance with that Policy.   

Use Policy   

The University of Queensland may use the information supplied by you as a student (before and after graduation) or as a University client for purposes which include:   

• updating the University’s records;
• keeping you infor me d concerning relevant functions, events and activities; and
• provide you with information relating to the University’s teaching and research.

Use of Cookies

This website does not use cookies. If you wish to use this facility you do not need to accept cookies. If you have configured your browser to reject all cookies, you will still be able to view pages on the site.

Financial information provided when you purchase an item is protected at all stages of the transaction. Details of this process are explained in our security statement.

Email records

UQ will not add your name and address details to a mailing list, nor will UQ disclose these details to third parties without your consent, unless required by law. E-mail messages may be monitored by UQ’s Information Technology Services support staff for system troubleshooting and maintenance purposes.

Access to an Individual’s Personal Information

You can ask UQ, by sending a request to Privacy Officer, J D Story Building, The University of Queensland, St Lucia , QLD 4072 whether UQ keeps personal information about you. You can also ask for a copy of the personal information that UQ keeps about you and request that UQ make changes to such information.

Note that before providing you with any personal information or making changes, we will ask you to provide evidence of your identity.

Retention of Information   

Your information including details of financial transactions (excluding credit card details not held by UQ) will be retained by UQ for five (5) years after the end of the financial year in which a transaction occurs.   

Security Statement

When you make a purchase through UQ’s website, your financial details are protected at all stages of the transaction by the use of SSL incorporating 128-bit encryption. In order to process your payment UQ needs to know your name, email address or phone number (for contact purposes) and if delivery is required, a delivery address.

Your credit card details are neither captured nor stored on UQ’s servers at any stage of the transaction. Your credit card details are submitted directly to our financial institution, the Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) Bank via the ANZ Bank secure connection that also makes use of SSL and 128-bit encryption. The ANZ Bank has its own security and privacy statement.

On UQ’s behalf, the ANZ Bank processes VISA, Bankcard, and MasterCard credit cards for payment through this web site.
